My work explores the visual possibilities of the natural and built environments that surround us. I take photographs using available light and without editing the content. The important process for me is to focus on what is there – capturing the act of seeing – and then choosing how to engage with the resulting image and how to present it. This delivers a likeness that we could all see should we choose, rather than considering what we might like to be there, or what we can create artificially.
This approach has allowed me to develop and return to key themes in my work – repetition, reflection, abstraction, balance, form – to develop images and that stand alone as well as delivering a narrative for our environment.
I live and work in London.
